GHG Emission quantification and reporting

Climate Lens Assessment

The Climate Lens Assessment is a guidance document for infrastructure projects required by several programs led by Infrastructure Canada to motivate proponents to consider the impacts of climate change in the design and implementation phases of their projects. Under the Climate Lens Assessment, we help you to develop a GHG Mitigation/Resilience Assessment, enabling your project to be eligible for the Infrastructure Canada Plan’s programs and supporting your project’s endeavour to reduce GHG emissions.

Our team has the expertise to conduct the Climate Lens analysis for your infrastructure project. We can help to identify and quantify the project’s anticipated emissions and translate data into mitigation plans. This will enable you to meet the program’s requirements while enhancing the project’s efficiency and reducing project costs.

Comprehensive GHG Audit

Beyond the requirements of the current and any future GHG reporting regulations, due diligence and financial evaluations of your business will increasingly need to consider the costs and risks associated with GHG emissions. As part of the process for preparing your risk management strategy or carbon neutrality strategy, our team offers a comprehensive and cost effective GHG audit service that will help you develop and manage these strategies.

The audit report prepared by our team of experts will identify the GHG emission characteristics of different branches or products and services of your business, evaluate potential costs and regulatory risks as well as identify cost and emissions reduction opportunities.

GHG Inventory

You can only manage what you measure! A GHG inventory is the first step of the pathway to becoming carbon neutral. A solid understanding of your organization’s GHG emissions is the key to effectively identifying reduction opportunities and to mitigating environmental risks and costs in our increasingly carbon-constrained world. To calculate the footprint, it is essential to perform an analysis of your organization’s GHG inventory assessing energy consumption from operations and supply chain. A GHG inventory is the starting point that will enable you to identify necessary retrofits or to fulfill mandatory reporting requirements.
Our team conducts an independent and verifiable GHG inventory for public and private organizations based on international standards, protocols, and best practices.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

It is important to understand your product, process or service’s environmental impacts for several reasons. To improve performance during design, support policymaking, or claim environmental benefits, an LCA supports you to strategically plan and reduce impacts throughout your value chain. An LCA involves the systematic analysis of the environmental impacts over the entire life cycle and is based on international standards, protocols, and best practices. From carbon intensity evaluations, embodied GHG and energy assessments to partial or full LCAs, we have the expertise required to support your needs from cradle-to-cradle. This includes evaluation of impacts in stages such as extraction of raw materials, production and manufacturing, transportation and distribution, construction/installation, use and maintenance, and disposal/reuse/recycling.

Environmental Reporting

In Canada and in Europe, environmental reporting is mandatory for most industrial entities. For example, in British Columbia, Canada, public sector organizations, municipalities and regional districts are subject to annual GHG emission reporting under the Carbon Neutral Government Regulation and Climate Action Charter.

As more investors and companies are seeking greater clarity and confidence in accounting for long-term climate risks and opportunities, the assessment of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors will provide insights to incorporate climate risks into decision-making. To increase your credibility and corporate transparency, you could consider voluntary environmental reporting such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

We help organizations to comply with both regulatory and voluntary environmental reporting.
